Description

Vintage Japanese pine wood tea chest, crate, box with lid, made in the 1960s probably. Original advertising labels on each end. The lid doesn't hinge, it just lifts off and is held in place by its sides. The inside is lined with thin metal. Rudimentary dovetail joints on the corners. Good stylish stackable storage cases. I have two more on here. Condition is pretty good structurally: it's solid enough and sound; some movement between the planks on the top, not much but it's not really for sitting on. Cosmetically there are various dings and scrapes (see pics) and some little holes in the metal inside, but not much wrong really; we've sanded the wood quite thoroughly. No finish at the moment but we're happy to oil it (makes it darker though). The dye of the labels is a bit worn but pleasantly. Dimensions: 67cm x 43cm x 48cm high
